The smell of the guitar
Ok this might sound strange or maybe not since a lot of us classical guitarist probably do this anyways....Well I at least hope so lol.
I have a relatively new guitar. About 3 months now. At the beginning I did smell the guitar hole to see if I could smell the wood. I could smell the glue. But lately, if its not in my head, I am starting to smell more the wood. Does anyone know if this is a good indication of the natural process of the guitar and becoming its true beauty...(ok you know what I mean) |

Yes, as long as your humidity levels are in the proper range... you're fine. I love the smell of each of my acoustic guitars. I will often stick my nose near the soundhole and smell them when taking them out, and returning them to their cases.

My Cordoba C5 smells fantastic! I can smell the cedar and mahogany after playing for a few minutes. Probably one of the reasons I can't put it down.

If someone were to put this scent into a cologne, --- they'd make millions.

One of my fondest memories was playing a walnut dread that I had made in my shop.
When the atmospheric conditions were right I would get a slight whiff that was exactly what drifted up to me as I bent the sides over a hot bending iron. It lasted for years and always brought a smile. |

I think it weird if you [I]don't[I] enjoy the smell of the wood.
