Paul - I hope you were able to get in touch with Mike B. If not, let me know and I'll help chase it down for you. I will be in Paso on Monday to pick up these two guitars and can pass along questions / contact info.
Now, a few updates. I stopped by Mike's shop last week and we discussed / approved any completion questions, and I dropped off my "tree" / cedar Meridian for Mike to check over and to as closely as possible match the neck shape and dimensions. That's one of the great things about working with a builder you trust - the opportunity to have a "real" custom neck. I really like the neck on the Meridian, and these will be very similar. I should have prefaced this whole build thread with the statement that I have absolutely no doubts about the playability and tone of both guitars. I have sampled quite a few Baraniks, and although each is an individual, there is a strong "family" tone and projection in them all. I've not played one I didn't like, and so the structural specifics of the guitars is not something I've worried about. I did tell Mike early on that I like the clarity and projection - notes distinct and yet integrated when strummed. The OO is the only "new" shape - as described just bit smaller lower bout, tiny bit smaller on the upper, and slightly less body depth. I really do expect no surprises in the tones out of these guitars. And I know that may be what most custom guitar customers are out for - that "perfect" tone. I am lucky in that I know I will love the tone, and therefore can concentrate on the tweaks that are important to me, personally. Ok... end of "prequel"... I asked Mike for some kind of inlays on the back of the neck. I didn't care what - Mike knows I like elegant simplicity - and I've loved some neck inlays I've seen before by him - so he worked through some ideas, and this is what he came up with. First - here's some ideas inlayed into some spare wood to assess the pattern, size, and dimensions (these are complex in that the two necks are different in length, and yet we wanted them to be "twins", so the dimensional design work to achieve both of those goals made Mike work. A lot.)

Headstocks
As Basil Fawlty would say, "and now for the tricky bit..."
Mike and I discussed several ideas, and some were pretty far out there... We were trying to include some kind of stained glass element, but we didn't want it to turn out like this:  So that kind of eliminated embedded LEDs and the like. What Mike eventually came up with was both brilliant and effective, and I think you'll like it. He originally thought that just the "glass" (really acrylic) on the headstock with an open chamber on the backplate would illuminate it well - but decided that there was no way to make it look "finished". So he had the idea of adding another very thin layer of acrylic to the backplate. There's a "chamber" in between, but because of the opaqueness of the acrylic there's no "bleed" of the pattern inlaid (fiber, like the back of the neck inlays). See what you think:   And here's the finished headstock, with binding. There is a light behind this, but it's nowhere nearly as impressive as it is in person! Note the subtle fiber lines inlaid on the headstock (outside of the "glass") to continue the theme.   Here's an even more finished version with the machine holes drilled, but without the backlight:

As everyone else has mentioned, the necks and the headstocks are phenomenal! Mike has really taken the concept above and beyond and executed it beautifully...
