Arm-rest construction info
I'm getting a guitar made and would like it to incorporate an arm-rest. The luthier says I have 2 options.
1- Magnetic removable one 2- One that uses dowels Some of the ones I've seen look like they're part of the guitar, coming out flush with the bindings ..... are the ones I've seen that are flush connected using dowels? http://www.decasciaguitars.com/product/sonia-cedar/ This one for instance ...... is this removable? Any info greatly appreciated

Or you can buy this removable arm rest that you attach onto the guitar and save the money and preserve the beautiful lines of the guitar when you are not using the rest...

I bought the leather one from Strings. I use it on my Cordoba nylon and Takamine OM steel string.

Luthier and AGF Sponsor TheEdwinson has designed an armrest that is attached to his guitars with magnets mounted inside the guitar and the armrest. Maybe others have designed similar systems? You can see his design here: https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...=417651&page=7 about halfway down the page (search for magnets)

I use the Able armrest with several guitars. I love it. My J40 was showing some wear on the part my forearm rested on. (My primary gigging guitar). This armrest works very well.
I’ve used it so much I’ve had to replace the cork contacts. |
