How do I run backing tracks through my amp?
I have really been enjoying improvising to various backing tracks on YouTube. I sit at my computer and get lost in my imaginary band. Is there a simply way to run the backing tracks from my computer to my amp so I can hear my solos and the backing tracks together? I have a line out on my desktop, for my computer speakers. Do I just run it from the computer to the amp, with adapters? Any help thank you in advance.

Typically that's how I'd do it.

OP sounds like he's found a satisfactory solution, but added for others:
Yes, you can do just hook up your computer to guitar amp with appropriate adapters. Line out signal will work with a guitar amp. If it's an acoustic guitar amp (rather than an electric guitar amp) you may get a less colored playback. Many home practice guitar amps these days even have the 1/8" jack for hooking up phones, ipods, tablets, etc for tracks playback, and that'll work great with the ubiquitous 1/8" stereo jack on a laptop or desktop computer. Alternatively, better than the usual small computer speakers can do a good job at acoustic guitar volumes and give you a better music playback experience even when you aren't playing along. I always used to jack my line out from my computer into my stereo system years ago for the same reason.

Don't know if this a help but I store all my backing tracks on my iPad and run a stereo lead from the headphone socket on the iPad into stereo inputs on my acoustic amp . Acoustic amps or PAs with full range speakers work best

Thanks all, I was thinking it would be a big deal. I have two amps. A Roland ac33 that I am using for this application and a Blues Jr. It's worked out cool as now my amp is also my stereo speaker, so YouTube is sounding great.

This is great for mobility. I do have an Ipad and will look for the stereo jack you mention. That way I am not stuck at the computer all the time.
