Don't know for sure but I think that second set of BRW is why I ended up with your "Tree" Penelope.
Sounds like 2015 is going to be exciting for you. Looking forward to our meeting in February. ... dennis |

I wanted to try something different with the back graft and since I think the best color to go with red is black (imo) I thought I'd go with a Gabon Black Ebony graft, and really bring it up to a high polish. I did my "H" logo in Bloodwood to keep the red theme going: Thanks for viewing! Mark

I wasn't going to as I'm figuring the weather to be very cold. And then of course there is taking the guitar on the plane. I could be convinced if a certain builder I know requested that I bring it.

Always admire your style Mark, your build standards and photography are immaculate. Really enjoyed following the '14 thread.
The 1st BRW of this thread is unbelievable, the 2nd set is beyond that. I like to think of myself as preferring quarter sawn straight grain, then I see your 2nd set and that is about the best figured BRW that I've seen, and I've seen a few. Are the two guitars for the same client? I like the contrast. Can't wait.

you have a point about the additional hassles involved. It's certainly not necessary.

The first guitar is for a repeat client but, the second is a first time buyer (from me). It's just a coincidence that I got two BRW Josie orders in a row. The guitars are different enough in both style and set-up that I thought they would make an interesting side by side build thread Mark

Logo
On the Josie with the cut away I am using a regular spruce center seam graft.
I am also going with my more standard Koa "H" logo. Koa is just such a nice looking wood, I shouldn't refer to it as "standard": Cheers Mark

Rosette
Here is the rosette forte all wood BRW/Adi guitar. The tiles are BRW, Bloodwood, and spalted Tamarind. It has a black ebony borders and a Bloodwood interior ring. The outer purfling is lines of black wood, maple, and Bloodwood. I'll use the same purfling around the top.
Thank-you for viewing! Mark

That is very very nice. I love the tie in with the bloodwood for the rosette and your "h" logo which is set to play off the red in the BRW back and sides. This all wood set up is going to be very eye catching and elegant at the same time letting the wood be the bling!
Beautiful choices Mr. Hatcher... |
