Mmm—mmm! Delicious looking guitars, Steve.
But that Pernambuco is especially tasty.

Certainly looking forward to re-convening at B.I.G. with some of my all-time favorite colleagues, whom I refer to as Kinnaird West (including Ryan) and Kinnaird East. What a talented family!
Steve, I'm still recalling that BW Ebony guitar you brought last year, that as I recall, Dennis took home...? And John, the guitar you sold to Ron (Aspiring) that I was gazing at all weekend. You guys never fail to amaze and delight. See ya's soon!

Today is the calm before the storm... Quite literally. In south Alabama, as in most of the south this summer, we've had phenomenal amounts of rain, accompanied by near-daily thunder and lightning. I expect that Joel and I will be driving through a 700-mile-long car wash in a few days, on the journey to New Braunfels. Heavy rain is projected daily, for the foreseeable future.
During a short clearing in the weather yesterday, this is what the sky looked like east of my House:

Today, I'm closely scrutinizing my show guitars. First one on the bench is the Ziricote Performance guitar. While giving the final detailing today, I used my new iPhone to shoot these details... The fingerboard inlays, which didn't show up very well in the studio shots...

And a couple more pics of the headstock...

...And another shot of the bridge... I really enjoy this stage- making a visual record of my guitars.

First, please do bring some of that rain with you to south central Tejas as we need it. Secondly, those inlays were deserving of those close-up shops, great work and so beautiful! See you in just a few days now.

Beautiful detailing, Steve.

The silking in that T14 is incredible!

Steve, the photo of the stormy sky makes me think of a painting that one of the great Masters might have done. With an eye like you have, recognizing the beauty in nature, it's no wonder your guitars are also works of art.

I'm surprised to hear it's dry there. Isn't Houston having epic floods? I think we'll be driving through some pretty crazy weather. At least there haven't been any hurricanes... yet.

Thank you Kevin. My phone does a better job of capturing those details than my camera. I need to use it more... Yes- the silk in these Tunnel 14 tops is amazingly opulent. I bought twelve sets last year, and I'm already halfway through my T-14 stash. I hope I sell one of these guitars, so I can pick up another dozen while it's still available. It is awesome for braces too.

Hey, Jim,
Yeah, I was on my way home from the grocery store yesterday, and that incredibly dramatic cloud formation made me stop the car and get out and take some photos.
So, you're on your way to Europe any day now, right?
When I get back from B.I.G., we'll be accelerating the pace on your build.

For those of you following this thread, Fast Jimmy is a good friend of mine, and right now, I'm building his third Edwinson guitar. He already has two steel strings, and this time Jim opted for a nylon string Crossover, model name "Artemis", the Goddess of the Hunt. I will be posting a bunch of photos soon, and following it through to completion here on the AGF.
Safe travels, Jim, and I hope you have a fantastic time across the Big Pond.

Thank you Russell! Man I wish I could put this Ziricote guitar in your hands. I bet it would check off ALL the boxes for you.

Thanks to everyone for looking, and for the kind comments.

Jeepers Steve…
I gotta get me one of those new fancy-schmancy iPhones too…
(along with a trained photographer to go with it)
…so I can get some artistically-creative uber-close-up shots like those

After working hard all year for this, today Joel and I are getting in the car with NINE guitars, and getting on I-10 West. We're stopping in Sulfur LA at the halfway point, and enjoying the company and hospitality of our great and generous friend, Ken Hobbs, and then heading out tomorrow morning for New Braunfels. It looks like the weather will be fine for traveling. I feel good today. Really looking forward to seeing Tom and Kathy, and all the good folks who will be attending the B.I.G. experience. We're gonna have a great time!

Travel safe, everyone!

I'm just going for the party, Paul. But it would be nice to return home with a lighter load. Thanks for your good thoughts!

Hi all, was mostly offline the last 10 days travelling in the US ... on my way to BIG III now and very excited to finally make it! Looking forward to meeting you in person and to experiencing the event with guitar aficionados I so far only know from afar. Can't wait!
