New Guilds
Got to see some new Oxnard made Guilds - a D-40, a D-40 Traditional, and D-55. Very impressed. They were all cleanly and lightly built and sounded great. I think we have a new player in the marketplace.

Guild is a great guitar maker and the move to Cordova,Oxnard was a smart move.
Getting out from under the Fender ownership was a must for Guild to survive. With all the problems that Gibson is having, I can see Guild becoming one of the top 3 production builders in America.

New Guilds
I haven't seen any of the new ones yet, but its good to hear that you're impression is favorable.
You might also want to post over at LTG and let them know.

I have been daydreaming about their Oxnard made F-512 since I saw the videos last week. They sound amazing! Can't wait for them to hit the stores. The dilemma will be choosing between it and the (F-512 inspired) Taylor 858E DLX 12 string I just bought. New Guilds are bad for Dave's GAS.

A lightly built D-55?
Might be about time. My '78 is a hernia waiting to happen, lol.

The New Hartford D-55s weren't very heavy. I think I've heard the Oxnard ones may be lighter still. Ren Ferguson might have had a hand in that change.

The D-55 was pretty impressive. The rosewood was luscious- so dark and straight grained. The braces are all quite small and neatly tucked and the head block was 1/2 the size of Westerly blocks. It was like looking into a Collings.
