Default Wireless Round Up

I made a video documenting my favorite two wireless systems right now. One is the much regarded Shure GLXD which I know many people use and the second is a more affordable version of the WG5 wireless system that has been discussed here quite a lot (the one I found is only $73).

I hope this is useful information.

Great job, as always. I'm thinking of giving the 5.8 gHz model a try. I wish these had shown up before I dished out $300 on the Sennheiser 2.8 gHz systems! Oh well. I have noticed that system doesn't work well with my Cole Clarks which is why I stopped using them. Something about that three-way proprietary system is apparently problematic with the Sennheiser. For $73 it's worth seeing if it's something to do with that.

Great review and thanks for posting. Maybe I'm being dense but I don't see any links, needed particularly for the "other system." I have sort of a mini-gig coming up that it could be perfect for. (Just wish I could scan that joint for 5.8GHZ before I get there but... I'll have a cable too )

Go to the YouTube video and they are in the description. I intentionally didn’t name it as it’s an OEM product with several available and I can update the link if a cheaper one comes available.

AeroUSA, it looks like you have tried both the Carvin and the unbranded versions of the 5.8Ghz system. Can you confirm that they are actually the same?

That’s what I thought. Thanks for confirming. I have the generic one and couldn’t be happier!

Does any of these have user-replaceable batteries?

No but this one is so affordable that I don’t think it’s an issue (apart from a waste point of view).

Thanks for heads-up on these.

I see on Amazon there are a number of similar 5.8GHz options, some down to about $50. But I haven't checked each to compare if there are additional or missing features from the one you mentioned.

No no no they are not the same. There are several 5.8ghz systems coming out now but they are not as good as the one in my video. Please do not order any of these ones as I have tried them all and they are NOT as good as the one I made the video about.

I am pretty sure that Carvin tried a bunch of these out before picking out the one they wanted to rebrand as their W5. Yeah, the unbranded W5 is way better than other similar models.
