Default ACUS Amps?

Hello:

Anyone have any experience with ACUS amps? Good? Bad?

Thanks in advance!

Great amps. Italian made speakers. All analog with big old fashion power transformers.

Checkout SR technology, Schertler...

Basically Schertler was making their amps by SR technology, just adding the preamps. At some point Schertler acquired SR technology, and some people from SR just “crossed the street “ and made a new company called Acus.

Very popular in France, Italy, Germany...

They are among the warmest, woody sounding amp you will find without lacking presence or definition.

I have a One For Strings AD. I am a fan. Great sound for guitar as well as vocals. I have had it for several years. Cuki mentioned definition. I can definitely hear every sloppy fretting move I make when playing through it.

I got mine from The Guitar Sanctuary in McKinney, TX. I don't live in Texas. I am pretty sure they paid the shipping on it. I have been in their shop a couple of times when I was in the DFW area. It is a great shop, and I have bought several things from them.

I seriously looked at these not too
Long ago. Particularly the AD model
mentioned above. They are suppose to
Sound great. Their presence in the US
Is not the best. And from what I've read
customer service is also not the best.after sale. I actually ended up buying a schertler
Sub and added my qsc cp8.
More to lug yes...but man it sounds
good. For smaller gigs I have an EAE d68
Which is stellar.

I recently acquired an ACUS One for Strings 5 and posted my findings in this thread:

Short story: Great sounding amp that is inspiring to play!

Thanks again for your experiences, I am looking at different ACUS models on Reverb and seeing what’s out there... I don’t live close enough to any dealer to actually go for a sonic audition.... So far, the user reviews seem quite positive..

I bought the Acus 5T a few months ago. I have only been able to use it a few times in outdoors events this past summer, but really happy with everything about it.

might sound good, but abysmal customer support if something goes wrong, be leery!

Where are you based? In EU they are easily available. If you are elsewhere, we might help you out to get one.

I own the OneforStrings 8 and the AD. Both are fantastic amps; the AD has more inputs but the 8 has enough for me doing a solo act and with both of them I get compliments on the sound just about every time I do a gig. Also beautiful 7-ply birch cabinets, very classy looking. They do require some tweaking to get the optimum sound as they tend to be a bit bass-heavy. Using a good quality pre-amp really helps with that. One thing to be aware of: I ordered the AD from Europe and (I should have known having spent some time in Italy) when it came it was wired for 110v which of course is the norm in most of Europe. I had to buy a 110/220 converter and using that it works fine.

Not cheap, but warm and natural tone to my ears

Acus amps are great. I've got the One for Street, had a One 8 and played all available Acus amps in the guitar department of the store I'm working at. All Acus amps have a warm sound and work great with piezo pickups. The guitar channels of the amps have premps that are tweaked for piezos. That said, you might find that pickups that use microphones sound a bit odd in the midrange. That's why I sold the Acus One 8 and got me a Fishman SA300 with expander and subwoofer. I've got a Taylor 914ce with ES2 and a Furch Little Jane with a LR Baggs Lyric and both sound more natural through the Fishman. None the less I sometimes miss the warmth and the larger than live sound of the Acus.
