Default RIP Gordie Howe

Mr. Hockey passes away at 88 y/o.

In the early '60s when I was a very young boy, he visited my original home town in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and I got to sit on his lap. I still remember that encounter. I have an autographed 5"x7" color photo that he signed and gave me.

-thank you for the memories.

Very sad, although Gordie was in poor health the past couple of years. He will forever be remembered by his fans. I remember getting his hockey card for the '79-'80 season, his final one when he was 52. I still have it, grey hair and no helmet.

To put into context of his greatness, he finished in the top 5 in scoring for 20 consecutive seasons. That will never be broken.

RIP Gordie - you'll be missed!

Thumbs up Mr. Hockey.....

I say him at the Detroit Olympia with the Wings many times. As a kid the standard line was..."don't go into the corner with Howe"....and the best..."watch out for those elbows"...

He had every-ones respect...in and out of the game!

Wow. Just heard about Gordie's passing. A sad day indeed. He was an incredible athlete and in the conversation as the best whoever played the game of hockey. RIP Mr. Howe.

Hey JPD, great that you were able to watch him live. I'm sure there are great memories.

Ah, the Gordie Howe Hat Trick, which consists of a goal, assist and fight in a single game. Gordie only it did it twice. I saw a stat this morning on TV which shows that Rick Tocchet has the most - he's done it 18 times. Sidney Crosby's done it once.

There was a great tribute on both TSN and Roger's Sportsnet this morning on Gordie Howe. He'll be missed.
