Default 12 string options

I have a Yamaha 12 string from 1971 -and I was considering maybe getting a Guild 12 string , but with the price of the F-512 around 4 grand ,
thinking about alternatives - i noticed Theirs a Guild model from china thats been getting some praise -and its deluxe model is like 599-699
( a step up from the standard F-2512 model -nicer wood , body binding etc -)
anyone have any experience with this model . Typically id say i only buy american , 4 grand is a bit to swallow and 599 seems almost to good .( about 1/6 of the other model )
with a American made case at about 150 bucks thats quite a deal.--
any thoughts ?

12 string options

You might try looking for a used Taylor 355 12 string Jumbo. It's very well made and sounds great. And the used price seems to average out under 1k for a decent one.

I speak from experience because I've owned one of these for 20 years.

Martin is making some decent 12-strings in the $2,000 range like the Grand J2-16GTE and the newer Grand J-16E 12 String (not yet available).

Look for a used F212XL, usually well under 2 grand, even $12-1300 or so. Just make sure it won't need a neck reset. Basically 512 dimensions with mahogany B&S and less bling.

I have to admit my first thought was the same (and usually, I'm as much an enabler as anyone here). One of the best sounding 12 strings I've ever heard belongs to a guy I know who has a 70s Yamaha 12. Just wow.
