I am surprised. I figured some of you with the more expensive guitars would have been more sentimental. To be honest I have never even thought about naming mine, but I am sentimental about it. It's the first one I ever bought and that makes it special to me even if it's not the most expensive or best guitar out there.
Well, I have a Blueridge Br-43 and I call it "the Br-43", but I don't talk to it

Three of my guitars have names because I just feel like they have strong personalities when they're in my hands. The old J-45 is Spot which is a name he acquired from my Dad after he survived our house burning down. His finish got blistered and a little ugly and there is a big spot of bare wood in the upper bout where my arm lays across. My 000-17 is named Willie because that was a name I kept hearing in my head every time I played him after he joined the family. My 000-15 Streetmaster is named Maggie because she makes me think of a girl that would hang out in a old west saloon.

I name my trucks and motorcycles too if I feel really comfortable in them and feel like I can always trust them to get me home. It might make me a little odd, but I've met a lot more colorful characters than me.

I never name any inanimate objects. My guitars are referred to as "the black one", "the electric" and "the classical". Works for me.

Yes and no. I don't give them names though they do end up with a way to refer to them. Right now I have the Deluxe, 00 and the beast. That would be my Waterloo WL-S Deluxe, Martin 1931 00-18 Authentic and Martin 1931 D-1 Authentic.

My cats are named Scrufty, Calico and Gray.

Just a way to refer to them that could be called their name.

I do, sometimes. My Ibanez RS-1010SL is Elizabeth. My Eastman E10OM is Louisa. My new Martin HD-28 is Ulysses (I think; that name is still in its trial phase).

Unnamed: my old Guild D-50, my Strat, and my new Reverend Airwave 12-string.

I’ve never named a bass, for whatever reason.

Not since I was a nerdy 16 year old. I’m not judging anyone, just relating my experience. And I don’t refer to them as “she” either. Just not my jam.

Do you name your guitars?

Naaah.

It would be like naming a deaf dog. No matter what you call it, it won't come anyway. And if I did name a guitar, with my luck it probably couldn't fetch middle 'C'.

I sometimes think of my white Carvin bass as White Bird, after the bass line of "White Bird" by It's a Beautiful Day.

This thread reminded me of a scene from my kids' favorite movie.

I only have named one, and it's one of my more recent acquisitions late last year.

It is a Takamine EAC48C Santa Fe model, that features gem grade inlays for the rosette and fingerboard inlays.

On November 2nd, I had a new granddaughter born. My daughter and son-in-law had kept her name secret until she was born. They named her Gemma, which is an Italian origin name meaning "gem" or "precious stone". Since this gorgeous Santa Fe model has gem grade stones of turquoise, lapis, coral, and Mother of Pearl, I am the proud grandpa calling it Gemma after my beautiful granddaughter.
