I've been using Retros on all three of my guitars--OMs and dreads, 'hog and rosewood--with good success for the last few months. Once your ear adjusts to the lack of sizzle, you appreciate the warmth and fundamental emphasis they bring to the mix. I'm not saying I won't use standard bronze strings again (especially since I have lot of sets of them floating around from the last time I did string trials), but they're no longer my go-to strings.

I’ve had mixed results with retros in the past too. I just ordered a set of mediums for my GS mini hoping I like the sound enough. I figured I can probably leave them on a year since I only play it about two hours a month.

Also bought a set for my new Larrivee Spruce/ hog. I’m simply still in the string experimentation stage with it so I figured why not?

Pyramid round-core phos. bronze I like best (after 50 yrs of playing). Funny, I worked in the 70's for a popular string manufacturer and they let me experiment with core vs. wrapping size with different materials. It was for my personal use. I had more fun experimenting than enjoying the resulting sound.
