Yeah, and my Ford Escort is “basically” just as good as my Mercedes.

Bought one as a boat/campfire guitar last year. It plays nicely enough but it sounds like an inexpensive guitar. I simply don’t get the accolades. I don’t even really play it much as a boat or campfire guitar.

I bought it to play live through a PA so the unplugged sound isn't even a concern for me. But I don't know any $300 guitars that's going to sound exceptional unplugged anyway. Grab a $300 Yamaha or whatever else with lam back and sides for that price and it will sound in the same ballpark.

The fretboard on the PCH is rosewood right? Reason I ask is because I just received a new one and I was putting some new strings on it and as I normally do with new guitars, was cleaning and adding some conditioner to the fretboard and the thing is just black. I am wiping and wiping with paper towels and it keep coming off with black on the paper. I thought maybe it was richlite for a second but its not. Weird.

Eastmans are braced and built on the heavy side. My sitka/mahogany 000 is 4lbs 13oz! I've never seen one with an excessive belly. I can't remember ever seeing one with a top crack.

They dye their fretboards. But so do a lot of companies. I used to get black fingers constantly with one particular OM I owned.

So it won't come clean no matter how much you wipe them? Seems like the oil or whatever in the Dunlop fretboard conditioner really gets the black to come off.

I thought about getting one as a beater, and for under $300 it was pretty good when I played one at the shop. But it did feel like a $300 guitar; kinda flimsy. I ended up getting a b stock guild westerly instead.

Got my PCH dred from AcousticMusicWorks, and agree with JLG. Mine was under $500, and easily plays and sounds like many costing over 2k. Amazing value, and with lami sides and back, should be a durable office model too.

I would assume after a while it stops. I never conditioned any of my fretboards. Humidity and finger oils do the trick for me. Also I never kept one long enough to find out

Hello! I own a PCH OM. Comparably to my expensive Bourgeois, Collings, vintage, it is basically just as good. Super comfortable, feel amazing in the hands, and they sound incredible for the price. I believe it's the best guitar you can get under $1000 (besides another Eastman). It'll blow a GS Mini, Dread Junior, Sheeran, or Epiphone out of the water by miles.

Hey, thoughts on the neck shape? In the market for my daughter, but if it’s similar to the fuller profile of the standard Eastman vintage-style instruments, it’ll probably be a bit much for her first exposure. Great value, but trying to get a bead on the fit.

So, I looked at your guitar signature. Are you saying your Eastman sounds just as good as all of your high end guitars? You said, “basically, just as good”. So, if you let 10 people play it, would they say it sounds good, or it’s neck and neck with these big boys?

People used to say the same thing when Blueridge and Recording King were getting attention. I think Eastman deserves more credit because they are very good guitars. But I highly doubt that after the honeymoon phase anyone would still make these kinds of comments.
