It may be a good thing John is semi-retired. If he built faster we would all be having to pay him even more often!!!

Hahaha

Every new one continues to surpass the formerly best ever... REALLY!

Stay vigilant, well, and musical

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving...

The bridge was getting glued on, in the new guitar case no less... I think it’s because JK is getting so popular he has no more space on his workbench!

Tada!

Nice dark BRW bridge for maximum in tone and not to over-complicate the look of the top. The saddle looks a bit high but that gets shaped later on as everything gets fitted.

The bridge pins are bone from Bob Colosi in aged amber. I got those unevenly shaded ones as that’s my preference and style, I think judging from the rest of the guitar you can tell! Bob says that you don’t need to spend a fortune on more exotic materials for bridge pins because bone is as far as tone gets optimized. Anything more expensive like Walrus won’t make it sound worse but it won’t sound better either. Aesthetics wise that’s another matter! I was happy to settle for bone in this case.

Unfortunately the spotlight glare doesn’t show the color of the pins but in normal light it looks more like this:

Thanks for riding along @canuck7 and your continuous support @Nemo... the look is a real dream, executed to perfection by John. I love the look very much and I have great expectations for the tone!

Sneak peek of neck shading while it goes for a bask in the sun. Not sure if you can tell from the pics but the neck profile is real thin to accommodate my small hands.

Anyone wants to fashion a guess on what we settled on for side markers?

Smile Thin necks from JK

I have small hands too, and beat up after a lifetime of drumming as well.

John's slim necks still deliver max TONE due to the CF reinforcements and multiple laminations. These necks are quite rigid and extremely strong.

You are in for a big treat real soon!!!

No idea on the side markers, but you will LOVE the neck!

Salud

Paul

Default West Coast build for Hanter

Neck is almost done!

The side markers are made of Ambonya Burl circled in brass.

You can see Paul’s neck lurking beside mine.

Still a little curing time on the headstock before it’s completed but John did string it up for a test drive this morning. The initial response is a positive one ... even though it’s not up to concert pitch as yet he says it’s lively and the Tunnel 14 can’t wait to make music.
