R Taylor Style 1 - Swiss Alpine Moon Spruce & Cocobolo
I'm the original owner and have procrastinated for several years on selling, but the time has come. I don't play acoustic much anymore, kids in college, and just generally letting things go.
This guitar is in excellent shape (very close to new condition with the single exception of very small finish knick as noted in the photo - it's finish only, not wood. The small chip is on the lower bout, binding edge - see photo for perspective). The specs: - 2008 Model, Style 1 R. Taylor - Modified X Bracing, 65' Radius Top - Slim Carve Neck profile (I can't feel much difference between this neck any my 914ce neck to be honest) - 1 3/4" nut width - Ebony Binding - Swiss Alpine Moon Spruce - Cocobolo back & sides - K&K Pure Mini pickup Guitar has been nearly 100% played at home. Pickup was put in for the rare time I may play at church (I'm pretty much exclusively an electric player there), and normally took a different guitar for fear of something happening to this one. Here are a few pictures. Asking $3,400 shipped, lower 48 US. (Sorry - NO TRADES) Updated photos (with an "actual camera" as of 5/22/18).. Last edited by almesy; 05-22-2018 at 02:46 PM. About the neck...
If your 914 is from the 80s or 90s the neck will be very much like this one.
The RT Slim Carve neck is almost the same as the pre NT 90s Taylors. Best on this sale. Paul

As for the 914 I mentioned and the neck, it's actually a newer one, around 2012 or so. You can actually tell a slight difference, but I don't think it's very extreme - pretty true to the Taylor feel, just a little slimmer - both are very comfortable.
Thanks for the well wishes, and to those who've PM'd me with interest. Mike Last edited by almesy; 03-25-2018 at 01:11 PM. |

Gorgeous guitar. I have a similar R. Taylor and it is a stunning instrument. Love my thin carve neck, and Alpine spruce.
Good luck on the sale, some one is going to get a jewel.

My 2 cents...
This one is a beauty! I hope this helps:
R. Taylor was Bob Taylor's personal guitar playground. It truly was a small shop just outside of a huge factory! I was fortunate to get a couple tours of the R.T. Shop when commissioning a couple of special instruments. Bob and a small team of Taylor's most experienced luthiers, headed by Tim Luranc, built 200 guitars a YEAR for six years for a total of about 1,200. In contrast, The two Taylor factories turn out about 400 guitars per DAY. R. Taylor was a luthier's dream while it lasted. All the advantages of the world-class Taylor factory, and all the time necessary to build world-class Luthier style guitars. Nice to be able to walk next-door and help yourself to the cream of Bob's super wood stash! Or the most beautiful abalone.... R.Ts luthiers spent three times as much time on each instrument as Taylor does! Time to hand select the wood, tap tune the pieces, shave the braces, etc. The workmanship is flawless. I have it on good authority that if they ever reopen the R. Taylor shop the guitars will be a LOT more expensive!!! Cheers Paul

That's sure a pretty piece of Coco! I've owned not less than 10-15 different RT's mostly Style 1's like this one. I always found them to be pleasing to play and still contend that they are one of the best values out there for the money.
Best of luck on this sale!

Thanks! The Coco is kind of mesmerizing to stare at sometimes, and really is pretty amazing.
(Could't do a standard Taylor Build to Order for nearly this price, with half the quality of woods.) Last edited by almesy; 04-08-2018 at 02:50 PM. |

Would you by any chance have a full shot of the back without reflections in suitable lighting? Thank you.

Tried for you, and this is what I came up with.... Two from the dealer when I bought it (which obviously it hasn't changed and shows pretty well). Hope these help.... Thanks, Mike |
