NGD! Gretsch Brian Setzer Nashville
Succumbed to GAS today and bought a new Gretsch 6120SSLVO Brian Setzer Nashville in Vintage Orange Lacquer at Gryphon.
Here's a pic: Rockabilly is my fav music to play and this axe will take me "there". Time to plug into my old BOSS DM-2 Analog Delay and '72 Fender Deluxe Reverb amp. FUN! |

Oh, yes. Gorgeous. And it has a mud switch, so it's a real Gretsch!

That is some guitar. You can't beat a Gretsch for rockabilly. I have a Nashville which I have gigged a few times and they have tone. -- Darwin

Very sweet Congrats!! Gretsch Electric guitars have long been my favorite. I've sported a Setzer Black Phoenix for years. Brian Setzer is such a great player and I love the music and style he has!!!

Very nice guitar. I've wanted a White Falcon for ages but I settled for an Electromatic in white.

For those not familiar with Gretsch, the guy in the middle is playing one.

Thanks folks!
I thought I'd bought my last electric guitar several years ago when our Classic Oldies Band shut down after a 27 year run (and we thought we were playing for just one NIGHT). Since then I've moved 100% into acoustic guitar and still enjoy performing at Open Mics and the occasional paid solo gig. At 69, I'm darn lucky. Gryphon Stringed Instruments happens to be about 20 minutes from my home and that's DANGEROUS. It's the best guitar store I've ever been in and their legendary service is second to none. They do charge a little more for their instruments, but for me the service is well worth the difference. When I walked in last week and saw this Setzer with it's yellowish lacquer binding and looking incredible, I had to give it a play. That put the nail in my checkbook coffin. Adding to the tone was the PERFECT setup Gryphon had done on the guitar. Not a buzz in it and it plays effortlessly up and down the neck. Now I just have to figure out what to do with that useless mud switch. I'm taking it up to electric guitar techie magician Gary Brawer in San Francisco and will heed his advice. Meantime, here's what I'm playing this beautiful instrument through. It's my '72 Fender Deluxe Reverb and the tone is just off the charts: Happy Holidays to all! Bill |

Hopefully it is loaded with TV Jones Pickups in there...
I think those are the greatest new pickups anywhere. |
