Default It's raining, it's pouring

And here is something for you from 1971 on this rainy day in the Mid-Atlantic:

And, because rain makes me meditative, something from 1973:

I have a very clear memory of being 12 years old and sneaking out at night to my older brother's Chevy Vega in the carport and listening to this entire album on his car's 8 track tape player setup with (of course) Jensen speakers.

And for this one I remember hanging out at my oldest brother's apartment and listening to this album along with his buddies (male and female). My oldest brother was the manager of a Merry Go Round clothing store (bell bottoms, silk shirts, platform shoes, you get it) so there were lots of groovy people at these hang outs. Ahhh, the days before disco music took over.

Other than "Rocky Mountain Way," my most vivid memory of the album is being on a vacation in Gatlinburg, TN, and hearing "Midnight Moodies" playing under the otherwise silent statistical portion of a TV weather broadcast from Knoxville.

Vacations are interesting events to fix songs in our memories. Mr. Mister's "Kyrie" is fixed in my mind by the fact that it was at its peak during another vacation in Gatlinburg, this time with my lovely wife. John Denver's brand new Farewell Andromeda album was presented to me by my parents on my return from a trip to Colorado in 1973.
