Default A curiosity to me

I'm an advocate of the K.I.S.S. philosophy, so I use my phone (iPhone SE) to record videos. The audio and video quality is fine with me.
I record for posterity only and I'm not going to spend 100's or 1000's of dollars on recording equipment.

I'll try to be succinct.

I have an Art and Lutherie A/E among my arsenal, a Tennessee Red. I have made videos with all 12 of my guitars and am quite satisfied with the quality.
Night before last I was working on a new, original song using the A and L- but the guitar wasn't recording quite as well, (volume wise) as any of my others- out of curiosity, I plugged it in to my Fishman Loud Box Mini- the play back volume was no different. I moved the amp to a closer position, adjusted the guitar volume, the gain, and master volume to just under feed back- and still, the play back volume remained the same.

I don't understand. Any ideas?

I'm guessing your phone sets it's incoming signal automatically, so it will amplify a weak sound source more than a loud one?

That's an interesting thought- I'll stew on it. Thanks!
