Although the A&H is a good mixer, it only has stereo (or 2-track) USB capability.
If you only want to record 2 sources, at most, at one time (2 mics, mic and guitar, etc), it'll work for you, but if you want to record more than 2 sources on separate tracks at the same time you will need an audio interface (suggest you read the helpful threads at homerecording.com).
I always recommend Reaper as a DAW - free to download the full version and try it out, pay to register it when you want. It has all the features of any high price DAW, but there is a pretty steep learning curve if you have never done computer recording before.

I love Reaper and swear by it, but I learned my way around PC recording with Audacity, which has an easier learning curve.

Just about every DAW has a trial version. I suggest that you try them all and see which one flows the easiest under your fingertips.

I personally use Reaper. It takes some time to learn it but there are some very good videos on YouTube and a great forum to ask questions.
