Default Baseball fans: A couple of biopics for you.

My dad instilled a deep love of baseball in me from a very early age, taking me to Class A games in my hometown of Kennewick, WA, in the late 60's and 70's. Moving to Seattle in 1977, I followed the Mariners through the doldrums of the 70's and 80's, and then thrilled at the "Refuse to Lose" 1995 season and 2001 116-win season. These days, with the price of admission and the inconvenience of traveling to Seattle, I content myself with the AAA Tacoma Rainiers and my close friends' son's Select League games.

All that said, two excellent baseball-related biopics have come out in recent months. The first, Facing Nolan, is an excellent look at the man that I consider to be the best pitcher in history. His dedication to his craft and his determination to be the best at what he does were astounding. Available on Netflix. The second just dropped last night: Reggie. It is a look at his incredible career, the obstacles he faced, and his dedication to fighting the racism that was so prevalent when he was starting out. Reggie was a childhood hero of mine. I always tried to catch a Yankee game when they were in town. I one time saw him bounce a ball off the wall of the Kingdome in straightaway center field. That was at least 500 feet away from home plate. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Available on Prime.

Reggie was just on Howard Stern. There are bits of it on YouTube but I like watching them when they're released in the entirety.

Thanks for the heads up, Dave. I look forward to watching both.
