Default How to Play INTRO to TELL HER NO by the Zombies

Hi,

I'm learning TELL HER NO by the Zombies (1964 or so) and seeking some help with the INTRO. Transposed song (for vocal reasons) to Amaj7 - F#m Bm - E7 for 1st line of verse ("And if she should tell you ...") -- INTRO is a challenge for this long time strummer (LOL). GREAT song! Appreciate whatever folks can offer! Chords, notes, strumming patterns, suggestions, etc.

THANKS!

I learned that one from watching this "Shindig" clip, which clearly shows how Paul Atkinson plays the intro:

Incidentally, if you've transposed it from E to A, you'll have to find a different way to play the intro, it will be waaaay up on the neck of you use Atkinson's fingering.

And the chords you're playing - Amaj7 - F#m Bm - E7 - are incorrect.

The Zombies' version is Emaj7 - Amaj7 - Bmaj7, so you need to play Amaj7 - Dmaj7 - Emaj7.

Not sure where you guys ^^ are getting your chords from! In the key of A, the verse would be Amaj7 - Bm - E (6 or 7 accent, if any).

By golly, I just tried it your way (in the original key) - Emaj7 / F#m / Bmaj7 - and you are right!

Thanks for straightening me out!

Hi Mike,

You are correct but I also found a version that inserts an F#m between the Amaj7 and the Bm. The 1st line of the verse would look like this:

Amaj7 F#m Bm E(7)
And if she should tell you, "Come Closer"

Any thoughts on the intro ?

THANKS,

Rick

Post formatting moved chord diagrams. In 1st line of verse, Amaj7 is over the "And" -- the F#m is above "SHE" -- Bm is above "Closer" and the E7 is a tag at the end of the line
