What is the best way to get a link on this thread to a better quality recording of this 12 string ?
I agree that soundcloud messes up the sound quality - recordings are 'transcoded' to 128 kbps. One thing you can do is open a free account at someplace like box.com. You upload a higher res mp3 or wav and it lets you create a link for listening. Easy.

Don,

In terms of upload size, uncompressed .WAV file recordings run about 10MB/minute, MP3s about 1MB/minute. MP3s of about 256-320kbps are decent, but still lower than CD quality. Most internet services have upload speeds considerably lower than their download rate. Not necessarily fun to post them if you don't have a fast internet connection.

Anyway, free Box.com signup is at https://www.box.com/pricing/personal/

Not unlike Photobucket for pictures, which you already seem to have a handle on.

If that's not easy enough for you, you can send a sound file to someone else to host on their account. I'd be glad to do so on my Box. account (can setup a directory and allow you to be a collaborator, which lets you modify the content [ie: upload to it via a link]).

Similarly, I have tons of space on my own website, and can host a sound file for you for awhile as well, at least until my provider complains at the amount of throughput from multiple download requests.

You can also send large files via a free transfer service, such as
https://transfer.pcloud.com/
which does not require registration. Many other such services exist, but often want you to register a free account first. The recipient receives a link to download the file for a limited time. Recipient can then upload to a service or web host for you.

If the file is too large to upload (due to limited high-speed access for your internet service), then you can send me a CD or data CD-R or DVD.

Don: Good looking build! Wish I could check it out.

I actually keep my 12 tuned down at C#. John Pearse makes a set of strings for the purpose. It's a great range for a 12 and the thing just growls. I'd love to try a guitar actually built for the purpose.

I'll look forward to hearing clips!

Thanks for all of your suggestions,
I have a local musician friend who has some microphones and digital recording equipment and he has offered to help. I'll post it here when we have got something.

Thanks for the info, Don.
I gotta ask...did you use the "Musser brace" behind your bridge plate?

Steve

Yes Steve - a 1/4 inch thick brace was glued right behind the bridge plate. The top braces were contoured to a 25 foot radius and the sides were contoured to the 25 foot radius hollow form before gluing on the top.

Here are some short clips. All three were recorded with the guitar tuned a third lower - (6-1) C - F - B flat - E flat - G -C . I am playing with a plastic thumb pick and steel finger picks.
