Default Steve Katz - Blood Sweat & Tears

This is a really fun video. I had no idea Steve took lessons from Dave Van Ronk and that's just one of the interesting things I learned watching this show from one of BS&T's founding members.

Anyone interested in more from his career, he had an autobiography out a few years ago. My favorite stories from it:

His version* of "you gotta listen to my girlfriend, she writes these interesting songs" story. Yes, the girlfriend is Joni Mitchell.

He's the producer on that Seventies live Lou Reed album with the memorable epic twin-guitar intro to Sweet Jane.

*I say 'his version" because like discovering America (and skipping over the first nations folks who were here since that ice-age land bridge) "Everyone discovered Joni Mitchell" with more than one person hearing her, figuring out that she was especially talented, and then trying to get her connected with someone who could launch her career. David Crosby was the one who finally got the connection.
