My rings are so loose that I come in the door at home and immediately put them in a little wooden box with my watch. When I was doing machine work the rule was always no jewelry or loose clothes. Interestingly, the first year of our marriage I worked as a recording engineer at a classical music venue. We flew in a Neumann mic array (M49s) from the catwalk every night. I had to climb the steel ladder to the catwalk, lift the mics up from the stage floor, hang them, and then fly them in, every night. After the performance I had to pull them back down. The venue manager was taking no chances that those classic mics would be stolen. However, the effect was for the ladder to beat the crap out of my poor ring on the way up and down, twice a night. Maybe it is still mad?

I love this post! The reason we all have rings and Kings have crowns of gold goes back to Saturn. Saturn in some respects can be considered an adversary. But that is not the case. It is like an old friend that you haven't seen for a few years stopping by to say hello, "How are you doing?" And you reflect on things. Losing a ring is a blessing. You realize it is not the physical ring which can be easily replaced but it is what it represents. Reminders are always good. Saturn is your friend and so is your wondering ring!

Bob,
I'm so happy to hear you found your ring (once again)!

I have the opposite problem- my wedding ring has not been off my hand for somewhere approaching 40 years. I think. I honestly cannot remember the last time it was off.

I'm certainly heavier now but my knuckles are also bigger so even if I lose weight I'm not sure I could get it off.

Anyway, glad to know you found it. Maybe re-sizing is in your future?

Best,
PJ

Thanks, PJ. Yep, we plan to resize it. My mother lost her ring that way. She hadn't taken hers off in years and fell, breaking that finger. It began swelling like crazy so my father took a pair of metal nippers and clipped it off her fingers to prevent it from cutting off blood flow. They got medical help and she began wearing my father's ring. As an environmental engineer and instrument prototyper he regularly worked with machine tools where it wasn't safe to wear jewelry. He got in the habit of not wearing the ring so it was handy to replace hers.

Two of my wife's rings have gone on walkabout... one didn't return! I had to come up with a replacement that time. Fun stories.
