If you like Primetone picks, you'll love… ?
I've been using a few Dunlop's Primetone picks (a few different thicknesses just under 1.0 mm) with the grips. I would have no problem buying the 'premium' picks (most are under $50 USD), but I'm not sure which. Any suggestions?

I like my Primetone picks but prefer Blue Chip 40's myself. This is really a personal issue ... but for me, the BC's provide a clean/no click sound while delivering a tone I prefer.

If you’re going to buy a premium pick for flat picking or single note picking, Bluechip would be the place to go.

Any endorsements for V-Pick? These are the ones I want to try next (next time at my local shop, where they are about the only 'boutique' pick available).

Snark (the tuner company) recently came out with a line of teardrop guitar picks. I purchased some and really like the tone. I own all the usual expensive picks like blue chip, wegen, John Pearse, etc. These Snarks are cheap and sound very good. I sent some to my brother who’s been thrilled.

Wegens. Big fan of the Wegens triangle shape. I have Blue Chips and Primetones and lots of others, but Wegens are always my go to.

Save yourself a lot of trouble and buy a Blue Chip, in whatever shape you tend to prefer.

Didn't like them, REALLY bright, audible click when it hit the strings too. Blue Chips are great, very pricey, but very well done. Are they worth it? Not for me, but I know folks who swear by them. I think there's great "premium" picks available at very reasonable prices. D'Andrea Pro-Plecs and Dunlop's "Jazztones" (not just for jazz) come to mind. More expensive, but not in Blue Chip territory, are Wegen's picks. |

I have tried Blue Chip and didn't care for the tone. I have also tried a real tortoise pick, Wegen, and many others. I find that my favorites are the Primetone and Wegen picks. I also like Ultex when I want a lighter pick.
