The late, great guitar store Mandolin Brothers had a room that had all their resonators, banjos and mandolins. I used to bring guitars in there to play just to hear all the sympathetic ringing of all those instruments.

In college, we would play guitars in the big dorm shower room area - awesome sound there.

I have found I have to store my National resonator guitar in it's case. If I leave it in my music room it acts as a reverb tank.

Buyer beware in guitar stores. A wall of acoustics will throw a lot of reflected sound back at you. I always ask if they have a separate room where lessons are taught if I'm serious about something.
But a room with wood floors and not a lot in the way f furniture or heavy curtains is a beautiful space. I play 75% or better outdoors, where you really hear the instrument. If auditioning electric instruments, beware of them plugging you into a Super Reverb.
