FIRST GIG
I have my first gig, since I had my collapsed lung back in September.
I fly out tomorrow morning. Meeting up with my drummer in California. Haven't seen each other in nearly 4 years. I'll do acoustic and vocal duties. He will be playing a Cajon, as well as harmony B/G, and probably beer bottles. I have been rehearsing. Each day is different. Some days I can do 90 minutes at a time. On a bad day I can still do a 45 minute set. Dropped dog at kennel this afternoon. First time I'll be away from KC since 2018. I'll be playing either my Dad's J-200 or L-4 flat top. Should be interesting. |

Good luck. It'd be fun to hear your take on how it went after all is said done.

Having cast aside all other vices, I will say that gigging is my remaining pleasure-addiction of choice (besides coffee). Enjoy. Have a blast!

Back in the land of green grass. Happy to be home.
Did 2 sets at the gig. Set 1, 90 minute, begining with Loggins & Messina's Vahevala into In The Beginning, by Greg Lake, Georga On My Mind. I am not much of a talker. So we had made set lists, the night before. Went right down the list. Barely letting last chord ring out before starting next song. I knew 2 sets, would probably be the max. So I wanted to play as many songs as I could. Did my heart good to see old friends and family. Did my brain good to have the focus of a gig situation. One I have been missing for 4 years. Me and my drummer of 44 years. (Playing a Cajon) He has been the only constant force in my life, longer than Mrs. EZ. RIP my dear. |
