Cars with internal combustion engines have been breaking down since day 1. Compare the number of moving parts in an EV to that with a engine. No comparison. Any part in the drive train can bring the vehicle to a stop, or preventing it from starting in the first place.

Concerns about battery powered devices are not entirely inappropriate. I’d lay odds most of the people on this forum actually understand more about the intricacies of an internal combustion engine, and would know about what multi-valve, or carburetors vs fuel injection, or dozens of other details are than they know about battery chemistries, charging systems, or charge management technology - even if they only own one or two ICE vehicles, and 30 or 40 different battery powered devices. But it’s a learning curve, and we need to demand that the technology and the battery systems information is more available, and more open source. I’ve had 3 electric vehicles - the first was a serious learning curve, second much easier, and now I’m pretty envious of my wifes Tesla. And the curve on my battery powered tools was similar - those old Makita 7.2v drill motors are like model Ts compared to my Festool, and better stuff is right around the corner. I like my Bose S1s and EAE unit, but I have yet to be confident enough to take them on a long gig without also bringing a power cord and confirming where the plugs are - just in case. Same is true with wireless units. But it’s all getting better, and the convenience and value these units offer for some situations make them worth it.

I’m waiting for a battery unit that could sit under my mic stand or stool, and I could keep my amp charged if needed, run my pedals, top off my wireless units, recharge my iPad or phone, and show me just how much juice I had left, and for how long - or, a really long cord to reach my F150 Lightning, when I can actually get one - ;-)

Well, on Monday I received an email letting me know my S1 arrived a Bose.
And yesterday I received another email indicating it was on it’s on the way back!
Is THREE whole days too long?
No, it should not have failed in the first place, but this situation is simply giving me very little room to complain.
I have not been informed as to the reason it failed….perhaps I can generate some angst over that….There has to be something…..

Hahahaha

I assume your being facetious about the time frame.
I would be curious about what the issue was, but it wouldn’t cause me to lose any sleep not knowing.
Seems like you’re pleased. I would be.

That is impressive turnaround! I would've expected weeks, not days.

I got out my S1 this morning for tonight's gig after not using it for over a month. Turned it on and nothing, not even registering in the Bose app. Plugged it in just in case the battery died and came looking for this thread. Obviously it was just taking a nap because when I checked it again less than an hour later it was fine and showing a full charge.

Slightly off topic but they really need to announce a follow-up to this product. It's so close to what a travelling musician needs but really has some weird design decisions.

I love mine too, but would love it more if it had a master vol.

I love mine as well but I'd love to see the Bose S2 Pro (my name idea) be nearly identical size and weight with one more combo input, slightly more power and a phone app EQ interface. Then it would be perfect for us.

Lately I've been using it to blast streamed music from my phone via Bluetooth connection out in the backyard while we do landscaping. It cranks up pretty loud before it starts to get overwhelmed, usually on the low end.
