Well...I was excited for her but I got it home and I'm not so sure. Even so she will make the call. I'm going to take these strings off and give it a good cleaning (which really should have already been done IMO) and put a fresh set of strings on it. And for the record I'll go online saying that Taylor's (for the most part) are not my favorite guitars from a voicing standpoint. Being pretty well entrenched in the vintage camp. But don't mistake this for Taylor bashing. There are plenty of other guitars that aren't really to my liking. Taylor builds a fine guitar...just a little to "modern" sounding for my needs? All that matters is if she likes it enough to keep it?

I was excited to have a tangible birthday present for her. Usually for birthday/anniversary/Christmas she gets repudiative gifts of massages/facials/pedicures. But one thing about the latter...they are always the right size and color!

Yeah...I could have probably worded the title line a little better?

Based on the title of you thread I thought you were talking about swapping one for the other. Whew!

Congratulations on finding a suitable birthday gift for her.
You might try some warmer strings like DR Rare PB when you do the string change.
I have several Taylor guitars including a Koa/cedar dreadnought that may be a relative of yours.

Thanks...I believe this one has a Sitka top but I could be mistaken? Not sure what's on there now but was planning on a set of PB 12's.

That Cedar/Koa dread must be special! I always thought that Taylor dreadnoughts were somewhat sold short. I had a stellar 810 I should have kept...

What a wonderful way to express your love and affection - I haven't got a wife as such although there's this woman who barges around the house making a lot of noise and asking pointed questions about my guitar collection and why the guest room is home to a few amps. Clearly this is the key to peace and harmony and I will buy her a guitar for all her birthdays from now on and possibly as Christmas presents too instead of the whisky and crates of beer I normally give....
