Default Nylon Guitar recommendations

As a change to steel strings I would really like to aquire a nylon string guitar for folk type fingerstyle style. Always liked the mellow tone these things put out.

Budget is £500, all solid preferable.

Prefer traditional looks as a opposed to modern variants.

Thanks in advance.

I’m not familiar with a ton of options, but from experience I can recommend a Cordoba C10 crossover, if the narrower 1 and 7/8ths nut appeals
To you. I got mine used for $700 US; all solid wood, nice guitar and an easy transition from steel strings.

I tried one of those new Yamaha transacoustic models and it is legit. It has built in reverb and chorus which is pretty neat.

I have both - a Yamaha Trans Acoustic and a Cordoba Fusion
As stated the YTA has a 52 mm nut, round shoulder, full - balanced sound; and the Trans acoustic function works well - providing some real reverb and chorus options
The Cordoba is a crossover with a 48mm nut, different neck profile, cutaway - and has a more notable treble presence, less bass, and not a full sounding.
Both have their place, BUT for pure finger style- I’d probably opt for the yamaha

I second La Patrie in the $300-700US price range. I've got a Presentation new $600, with rosewood sides and back, several years ago. I am quite happy with it. I had to do some work on the saddle to fix the intonation, but now it's great.

They're a Godin/Seagull company with a similar philosophy to A&L or Simon and Patrick: put the costs in hand-made process and materials, not in cosmetics like inlays and binding. The idea is that you'll get better sound and playability than competitors at a given price point. It compares very favorably to the few I've tried in the same price range. Not sure how it compares to much more expensive nylons because stores around here don't stock them.

Default Ditto LaPatrie

I have a LaPatrie Collection that I bought on eBay that is superb. Great playability and sound at a good price point. Their quality control is excellent.
