Default Silvertone Archtop Harmony H1324

I have a Silvertone Archtop / Harmony H1324, it's good to play both acoustic and amplified. The pickup works fine but I'm curious about switching the pickup to something better. Does anyone have knowledge of this guitar and can recommend a pickup that would work with the guitar. I play acoustics mostly and know very little about electrics so I would appreciate any input you can be.

Thanks!

Peter

If yours is one of those with the pickup mounted in the (oversized) pickguard I'd consider removing the original assembly, packing it away safely (in the event you decide to sell), and having a replica pickguard made with whatever pickup you choose; there's a number of possibilities, and once you decide which sound you prefer - the smoothness and girth of a full-size humbucker, the upper-midrange emphasis of a mini-bucker, the honk of a gold-foil, the near-acoustic crispness of a single-coil, the clarity and punch of a P-90, just to name a few (FYI there are many other options) - you can narrow the field to a specific manufacturer/model...
