Default The Great Unknown

This is a cover of a favorite of mine from the latest album by Shawn Mullins.

I've not played the song in probably a year or so, but it is set on a Friday evening, and for some reason I couldn't get it out of my head tonight.

Thank you, fb!

I'm a big fan of "storyteller" songwriters--Kristofferson, Prine, Springsteen, Isbell--and Shawn more than holds his own in that company in my book.

He is also a Gibson guy--so you should work up some of his stuff on yours!

Always nice to hear from you

Thank you for listening and commenting, Glenn!

I've had my Zoom h4n for a few months now and I'm just beginning to play with Audacity. On this one I used the EQ function for the first time to try to get my Martin to sound a little more like Shawn's Gibson

Thanks, Rick. He plays quite a bit up here even though he is based in the south, Atalanta, I believe. I've seen him at Infinity in Norfolk a couple of times. This song was co-written with Chuck Cannon who is another unsung talent...Chuck opened for Shawn at Infinity last year, great show.

Hi Fred,

Thanks for listening! That is my Martin MMV dread flatpicked into the zoom h4n on board mics, one track. I finally found a pre-loaded reverb setting in Audacity that isn't too strong, added some compression, and then EQ'd it for more treble. Having fun with it

Good fun! I've had my H4n for lots of years......and gradually moved to dual sd condernser mics with a mic pre-amp in the chain. Seems to do all I need for the stuff I do! The great thing about the Zooms is the ability to get nice quality right away, or try other combos. They're super little machines!

Yes Fred, it is an amazing little machine. I picked mine up used here on AGF.

I have no recording experience and am not technologically inclined...so if I can do it.......
