Actually read it years ago. Thought I'd revisit it. |

Reading Muscle Shoals Sound Studio-How The Swampers Changed American Music by Carla Jean Whitley. Not well written, but a fair introduction to the history of the Muscle Shoals sound, the people who were responsible for developing it and the artists who recorded there. This is not a deep dive, but more of an overview of the remarkably powerful influence of the recording studios and session musicians who made a small Alabama town a mecca for some of the world's biggest and most popular musicians.

I'll probably pick it up on (free) audiobook through my library if they have it. I've listened to 600 books in the past 6-7 years so far, and quickly ditched probably 80-90 that failed to intrigue. Netflix or AXSTV recently aired a 2-hour special called Muscle Shoals. Absolutely fascinating. |

I am currently reading The Art of Thinking Clearly by Rolf Debelli. It’s a read I come back frequently to reset my perspective.

Dan Brown's "Inferno". It's the fourth book of the Robert Langdon series. Halfway though and I'm enjoying it. This one is based on Dante's Divine Comedy / Inferno.

Just started The Joy and Light Bus Company by Alexander McCall Smith. It's the 22nd installment of the delightfully uplifting No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series, which I find to be the perfect literary nostrum for the trying times in which we live.

Back on break from Winston Churchill's The Second World War series, I'm finishing up a re-re-re-read of Robert Mason's Chickenhawk. It is a chronicle of one man's war flying Huey slicks in Vietnam. His tour started in the First Cav in 1965, including Ia Drang Valley, and then moved to the 101st. The Army considered it valuable enough that it was part of the syllabus for Army helicopter pilot recruits at Fort Rucker for years. You get to watch PTSD begin affecting him and there is a surprise ending. I'll finish it tonight.

Dean Koontz's Innocence. Half way through. Has potential for a great last half but the first half was a combination of great mysterious plot with some boring parts as well.

Currently reading:
Book #20 from one of my favorite series: As a fan of Mel Brooks' Movies I thought this would be interesting, and it is: Inspired to read by the 19th Century thread on this forum. Twain's storytelling is a joy to read.
