Default Thoughts On Pavan TP-20 Cedar

Anyone have one or play one recently? I had a TP-30 years ago and remember it being very nice. The TP-20 is one of the few cutaway classicals I've found without electronics and the cutaway doesn't seem to affect the sound, at least from the videos I've watched. I'm not a dyed in the wool classical player and like a cutaway for my Chet/John Knowles/Jerry Reed type stuff; probably don't need it but it looks nice.

I had a TP-30 for many years as well. Wish I never sold it even though I don't play classical anymore. Maybe you can custom order the TP-30 with a cutout. I was always under the impression that the 30 was much better for not much more money. But it might not be as noticeable if you're not playing strictly classical.

Thanks for bringing Pavan to my attention Skip. This has opened up a new avenue of exploration in my current quest for a better classical…

They're hard to beat for the price. I'll probably be ordering a TP-20 cutaway sometime today or tomorrow.

I got together with a TP-30 player years ago with my (then) $5k double-top guitar. The TP-30 embarrassed mine. Better tone, more volume.

Looking forward to your feedback.

I recently emailed them about the TP-30-64 and may try to get one from their next shipment.

**update**

rec'd the guitar last week and am returning it today but not for any fault of the guitar. Build quality and sound quality were as good as anything I've seen and that includes my handmade Brooks. I would not hesitate to buy from Tom again if things were different. It's been quite some time since I've owned a proper classical guitar with 2" nut width and I discovered my old 77 yr old left hand just can't handle it any more, so it's more a matter of player inadequacy as opposed to guitar problem - I could play it but not very well. Still a lot of bang for your buck so don't shy away from Pavan if you need a good classical guitar for a reasonable price.

Sorry to hear that Skip.
I have a TP 30-64 on order for December delivery. I’ll see if I can post a NGD when we have made friends.
