That is a bit like asking: blonde, brunette, or redhead... do you really want us to pick for you? Human nature being what it is, most people will suggest what they have. Since your sweetie is negotiating with you regarding the acquisition, I'd suggest that you ask her... and go with that. Or, red or black.

About that French CF guitar maker. It was called Voyage Air or Voyage instruments--the name was close to another maker's moniker. Anyway, being French, the company developed a number of color schemes that go well beyond the styles pursued by other makers. Unfortunately the company made it all the way to prototypes and then folded--leaving beyond a different notion of guitar coloration. Just saying............

The Amber will go well with a Strawberry Blonde. Congrats on getting your order in. That Chimera is very cool!

Congrats. Tick, tick, tick.....
My previous response favored amber, but then I pulled the trigger on an X30 from stock in -- red. It is en route currently. |

Thanks. I don't count my chickens until they hatch, of course, but soon. Will let everyone know. AnPost tracking says it was depatched from Heathrow yesterday. So as soon as the Customs agents get tired of playing it on this side of the pond.....
I'll bring it to Phoenix next year (late FEB / early MAR) for our next visit to mom. With any luck "Big Red" can be introduced to AZ's Amber Chimaera by then? |

Four weeks on that. Ted didn't have any High-G configurations in stock.

Phoenix may very well be the CF capital of the world during that visit .... and the most colorful.

As Phoenix often is, whenever a gathering of any size occurs. In October, we brought two Emerald CF guitars down to visit with Kramster's cast of thousands.

I'm very late to this thread. I'd have said amber. I have an older X7 in amber and an X20 in red and the amber just looks a little bit more like I'm used to a guitar looking, which is probably why I prefer it. The green and blue I'm a lot less fond of for some reason, but that's just a personal idea about what a guitar is supposed to look like. I guess amber, black, and red are colors I've seen on wooden guitars a lot. But too, but I rarely like it. Green, I don't think I've ever seen.
But the good news is, it doesn't matter, because you'll almost never see it! As pretty as all of the Emerald colors look in their glamour shots done with all manner of bright studio lighting, in the real world, unless you play in pretty bright sunlight a lot, you just don't see the color in these guitars much at all. Which I don't mind at all with the full carbon guitars. But I also have a woody and it's the same way and that's a stone drag. I have to throw a LOT of light at it to see how pretty it is. Mine's cocobolo which is a pretty dark veneer to begin with - maybe a lighter veneer would show up more easily in varying light. That's the ONLY thing I've been even remotely disappointed about with these guitars and it's not exactly a cryin' time sort of thing - it just is. -Ray |

On the other hand. Last time I was on stage the sound/lights guy had a focus spot set so bright I couldn't even see the audience. I suspect the color would POP in that environment.
