Default Forum newbie!

Hi everyone

Just wanted to formally introduce myself to the forum. Although I have been reading the many threads for over a year I've only recently posted a couple of comments. It's great to read all of your experiences and tips. I am also constantly drooling over your NGD photos which is possibly my favourite part.

Anyhow, I am a big guitar fan of both acoustic and electric guitar I love the playing of musicians from Tim O'Brien, Tommy Emmanuel, Isaac Guillory and Martin Simpson to David Gilmour, Lowell George and Ry Cooder but play predominantly acoustic myself. I have been playing for over 40 years and have played in several folk/blues bands over the years contributing a bit of campfire banjo and mandolin too. I now play mainly in a trio specialising in our own material plus a little Americana. All great fun.

Over the years I have managed to have owned over 50 guitars of varying quality but have now begun to build up a small collection of decent guitars which I am enjoying, but I do bemoan the lack of opportunities to see, play and buy quality second hand guitars in the region of the UK where I live.

Thanks for having me on here!

Keep on truckin'

Glad to have you, Slim. Why'd you wait so long? Lol...

I'll look forward to your contributions around here, especially about the Americana trio. That sounds great.

I like how you put 'campfire' and 'banjo' in the same sentence - they belong together.
Welcome to the AGF and feel free to talk about the cricket.

Slim, it’s always nice to have another British subject join us on the forum. We ever-fractious North Americans appreciate having the adult supervision!

Please just refrain from urging us to eat our Marmite because it’s good for us...

PS: My Alaskan-born wife actually likes Marmite. I have absolutely NO idea why...

Hi Brucebubs

Thanks for the welcome and if you mean the Ashes, they may be gone but it's been an exciting series and I've enjoyed watching it. I was at Headingley and it was phenomenal.

Yes, campfire banjo, I play a few simple picked chords but I love their sound. Great underrated instrument but I've only got so many hours left so its the guitar for me!

Keep on truckin'

Hi Silly Moustache

Glad you like my taste in guitar players. I've enjoyed watching your videos, you're a mean picker yourself!

One guy I missed out of my list was Darrell Scott. Top top man. Fabulous.
