First Bandsaw?
Considering purchasing my first band saw. Woodcrafters in Portland carries the Shop Fox. Discovered that Shop Fox is related to Grizzly. After a lot of research I'm now leaning towards this type saw.

Django Reinhardt and Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi (Ozzy) did fine with missing fingers.

Buy the most that you can afford .
If you want to move to resawing , you should consider 2 HP or more . If you do this wisely , it may just be your only bandsaw purchase . |

I like at least 8" clear vertical for re-sawing 16" backs. As noted:

I got a Rikon a few years ago...I'm pretty happy with it.

I’ve got two - a 1967 Delta 14” 1.5hp with riser block and a Lenox Trimaster and a Jet 18” 3hp with a 1” Trimaster. The first is for pattern cutting (curves, basically), and the second for resaw. The 14” can resaw if set up right, but the larger saw makes it effortless. If I had to keep one, I would select the 18” - it can take smaller blades if needed for pattern cutting and the hp is nothing to skimp on.

FWIW...I have a 1950's vintage Sears Craftsman bandsaw that still works just fine and gets a lot of use. |

I've got a small Delta I bought at Menards about ten years ago. Works pretty good for small projects but if the wood is hard it likes to wander.
I think it was $99 at the time. Really I probably need to change the blade more often.
