Default Pictures of strap button placement on a factory installed Martin

This is a picture of my recently sold DRS2 and where the button was, as it came from the factory.

As you can see, it’s a bit off center... that is, away from the fretboard.

Probably not a big deal, but that’s about the position where I placed the buttons on my D18 and D21. Functionally it works, but instead of just putting it where I saw it placed on the DRS2, I wish I had centered it more, or perhaps closer to the fret board.

Anyway, this got me wondering where the button is placed on other Martins that come with button installed. I believe all models that have electronics installed come with the button installed at the heel.

Could I request some pictures of where your factory installed button is? Is it also a bit off centered away from the fretboard?

That’s where you want it. Keeps the end of the strap away from the fretboard. Don’t sweat it.

Cool... I know I'm probably being OCD about it.

They might be trying to avoid bolts in that model.

Rocky, that’s the best place to put that button. The guitar balances better and the strap stays out of the way of your fretting hand when it’s placed right there. That’s precisely where I have the strap button on all of my 14 fret guitars.

Complete non-issue. That's where it belongs.

Interesting... DRS2 is bolt on? Otherwise you’re saying it would be more centered?

I just grabbed this picture from Maury’s Music. It’s a shot of D18E. Not the best angle, but it does look a bit off centered away from the fretboard.
