NO CD'S IN CARS ANYMORE!
In the past 7 months I have acquired a used 2016 Honda Civic and a new 2018 Honda CRV. My question is, now that automakers are not including cd players in the audio systems, have you all been forced to downloading your massive cd collection to iTunes and then putting what you want on your phone or other device so you can play music in your car? I just spent 4 days, about 4 hours a day, downloading my "favorite" cd's to iTunes and transferring most to the iPhone. Am I missing a short cut somewhere? Thanks

Me, I've pretty much just stopped listening to music in the car, other than one classical FM station. Caveat, my car does have a CD player but I rarely use it ... too lazy. If you choose to listen in your car to music you have on CD then you will have to do what's necessary to make that happen. I also have a Mac and dislike how apple gives us little choice on how we use iTunes so I boycott iTunes. If I wanted to transfer my CDs to mp3 files I'd probably buy one of those CD players that does that without involving your computer or iTunes. I've done zero research on them, but a quick Google search found one for $69. https://www.adorama.com/djcdencodr10...SABEgLZXPD_BwE Since I love CD quality and bemoan the loss of fidelity of mp3s, I'd research a unit that can create mp3 files in that new lossless format. |

https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...d.php?t=497377 In the last week I've also spent countless hours uploading about 8 gigs of music and putting it on a mp3 player. That represents maybe 10% of my CD collection (and I have TONS of great stuff on high quality cassette and vinyl) I could spend 4 hours a day and be done about the time I die. End of an era for sure. That said, for now my new Civic and I have about 120 hours of music to get through Biggest gripe I have is that the levels are so much different - I set it for shuffle and one cut is very quiet and the next is loud.....always reaching for the volume button on the steering wheel.

Reggie I am in a similar situation and I've resigned myself to using, for the most part, streaming services. Currently I have subscriptions to Google Play Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music (still trying to make up my mind what I like best). I did have an Apple Music subscription but decided to switch over to Google/Android a few months ago, just to test it out--I had been an Apple fan-boy since I bought my first Mac in '84 and thought I would try something different.
Anyway, pretty much all of these services allow you to cache music locally (on your phone), so you don't have to use your phone's wireless plan quota. In my case I often find myself wanting to listen to stuff that I don't have cached and I don't let that stop me. For better (or worse) my hearing has gotten bad enough that I can't really tell the difference between streamed music quality and CD's. :-) |

Use the USB. I have a Honda Accord. I put like 1000 songs on USB stick and plug it in to play from that.

We do the same thing. Have CD players in two of our vehicles but never use CDs, we use the USB stick instead.

I went from a 2008 Honda CRV with a six-disc CD player to a 2016 CRV with a single disc CD changer. I sure hate to go to a no-disc future CRV....

Here's an article that came out a bit over a year ago that addresses the question. Of course, there are an abundance of after-market offerings for those wanting CD's over Bluetooth wireless connection.

My 2018 Subaru Outback and my wife's 2018 Subaru Forrester both have CD players, as do the 2019s coming out.
That being said, I never use the CD player any more. Haven't for years We',be had XM or SiriusXM since at least the last 15 years.

i'm giving away the vhs to a friend and i've asked him to pass it on. someone else may want to see it. haven't figured out the cd aspect yet. a lot of work! but i do enjoy it on my walk! play music!
