She is amazing, but also delightful.
Whose heart cannot be touched by the joy of seeing that little soul playing so well, but far more important, so happily. Further, she shows us that regardless of cultures and nationalities, we are all, so alike.

When I played a tour of Magadan Oblast in the Russian Far East they had some tykes playing bailalaikas, though none of them were as musically accomplished as this young lady.
The North Koreans have a lot of little kids upfront playing solos, too. At least this little girl looks as though she’s enjoying herself. whm |

Doesn't Keith Richards only use 5 strings?

On the guitars he uses for Open G tuning. He doesn’t like having a low D string in that tuning, so he just had his guitar builder make those guitars without the low string.

Absolutely delightful. I will need all 12 strings just to keep up! And probably in DADGAD tuning to boot. Don .

That is a balalaika. I had two of them when growing up. Also this is a great CD of
balalaika music recording way back in 1962. Mercury Living Presence Stereo did many extremely nice recordings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95MQyCGX7bU

Some of my favorite Modern Fingerstyle guitarist of today's world, play with superb dynamics. Little pauses and note variations that make the music played by them exceptional. Thus I feel the intended emotion the music projects even more. There are many who fall into this category. One such example is our own Michael Watts. He plays with just such a feeling, through the extra dynamics he injects in each note played. That is why I am so amazed at this little girl. She plays with the same bravado, feeling and expression, as some one who has so many more years of not only practice, but real life experiences. |
