Small body strummer with 1 11/16 width
Looking for a RW with sitka top or similar small bodied acoustic (think GC, OM, 00) that has a huge voice when flat picked and strummed.
Looking for a more "modern sound" rather than traditional with great sustain and a thin profile neck (tayloresque?). 1 11/16 nut width. Singer/songwriter and in a band setting. Hoping my fellow guitar enthusiasts can help me out! Last edited by Hyde Michaels; 07-23-2014 at 03:45 PM. |

what kind of budget are you working with? Dave's Guitars has a nice selection of McPhersons, big voices, all.
The biggest roadblock to finding yourself a huge voiced 3.5 is actually the 3.5. Pretty hard to get a huge voice at only 3.5" deep. |

Budget wise I'd like to be under $5500. Open to ideas as long as the nut width is right (small hands, not proud of it haha), neck is fairly slim, and it has a fairly small body with a big modern sound that is great for strumming.
I hear goodall TROMs are nice although most I've seen have been 1 3/4 nut width. Maybe R taylor, or custom luthier? Open to ideas. Thanks! |

Have you tried a new Taylor 812 or 814? They're exceptionally good. You can order it with 1-11/16" nut.

Have heard great things about the new taylors and es2 system. Unfortunately, the local GC hasn't received any new 8 series yet so haven't been able to try. Definitely at the top of my list of to do.

Bump to the top!
Still open to ideas. Just a small-mid body strummer with 1 11/16 nut width. Preferably with a sound clip or 2. |

I feel the 0 may be a little too small to get the sound I need for a band setting strummer. Thanks for looking out though! Really want to try to stick to the GC-OM body if possible.
Still on the hunt. Hopefully something will pop up soon. |

1/16" smaller nut than you request, but less than 1/2 your budget... http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...d.php?t=350578

Collings' OM guitars have a 1 11/16th nut. Most are 1 3/4 but you'll see them from time to time. You can also get a deep bodies OM if you want a strumming guitar.

I'd look at a Huss & Dalton CM, Larrivee L, or perhaps a Bourgeois JOM, or JOMC. I have a JOMC that I could be talked out of...it is a looker along with nice tone. Bearclaw Sitka, EIR, body, neck, and snakehead bound in maple. Fishman ellipse already installed. 1 3/4 I think though..
