Default Nowhere Man

Nowhere Man

Haunting lyrics, concept, harmony - especially the intro, that bright Stratocaster, brilliant bass line - especially over "the world is at your command", great lead, and of COURSE Lennon's masterful lead vocal. Ringo's drums are perfect too, as they often are.

I'm perfectly content with the one, but I'll Be Back is pretty terrific too, in its understated way.

I am going to go with I Will and Eleanor Rigby. Ask me tomorrow and the answers might be different. So many great songs to choose from.

Best,
Jayne

"I Will" is such a gorgeous melody. Just a perfect little pop song. And George's guitar playing on that track is the perfect counterpoint.

In my opinion, Tomorrow never knows. Not a single person other than Lennon could have come up with that song, and it changed everything. Pure genius.

For pre-Revolver, I would probably go with I feel fine, the sound of a group realising how good they really were.

Got to love The Beatles!

"In MY Life" the song just has such a tremendous theme for me, the melody is great, I really like the Harpsichord, even if it is George Martin, and above all, "In my life, I love you more " !!! My second favorite Beatle's song is "I Will" it's also about Love, and it's message is direct and to the point...."love you forever, and for ever, love you with all my heart" "for the things you do endear you to me, ah you know I will.......I will" !!!
Love,
Graham

Really hard to select just two, as they wrote so many great songs, but mine (today) are:

Paperback Writer
&
Taxman (Gotta show some love for George!)

Strong contender. How many rock and roll performances are as blisteringly good as that recording? Not many.

It's interesting to play T&S slowly and quietly, as if it were a folk/blues song.

Can you imagine, if the Beatles had never written it, and then this summer some band released that exact record, how people would be raving about it?
Let's say the Beatles never existed, and some group of 4 guys produced their songs now, how would they be received? Assumption is they have never been heard before 2018. Interesting to ponder. I believe without the distinctive voices, personalities, it would not be the same today. They are classic songs, but do they speak to today's young folks? They are timeless, in my opinion. But does the current crop of music consumers think so? In other words, transplant the Beatles to 2018, wipe out the past, what happens?

yeah, me too. And I could say that is my fav as well.

Hmm, I'd say the Abbey Road Medley. Oops, guess that doesn't count, technically.

So, I'll go back to one of the first Beatles tunes I couldn't get out of my head after first hearing; "Penny Lane"

Hey Bulldog.

The thing just rocks. And there's a joy in that song that can't be beat.
