It is either the Takamine Graph-Ex or AccurAcoustic preamp which is one of their older models that came on the older series guitars.

The one in the OP’s pic looks different to both of those....

I can't see the photo so I can't comment but I remember once reading that the older preamps that Takamine used, actually sounded the best. There's a band I used to follow "Great Big Sea" and they have used Takamine guitars for years. Their main guitars are from the early 90's. Their tech did an interview where he stated that the older designs were much more simple resulting in a better tone. Not sure if anything is to this but I do feel that sometimes too many features can hurt the straight up tone of the pickup.

It was an educated guess since it was blurry, the layout is the same, but I could not see the volume button clearly enough... Dirk Z got it right, it's an N4B which I believe was the predecessor to both the preamps I mentioned. Good call Dirk!

I understand too that he uses an outboard tube preamp. That combination was the predecessor to the Tak Cool Tube preamp. The goal was to give players the same benefit of the Tak pickup and tube preamp all in one.
