This is a KICK: Mongolian cowboy music!
My daughter sent me a link to this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qs_ZSdrKbu4 They're clearly very fine musicians, and a lot of this song truly does sound as though it belongs in a Sergio Leone spaghetti western. I have a CD of traditional Tuvan music, Tuva being a Mongolian-speaking region in Russia, and all of the songs have this horse-riding beat to them. The band is called AnDa Union. Those of you who want to hear more of this group can check out this concert footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFf7FSOpfvs While the lead singer in the cowboy hat is the dominant figure in that first video, from watching the concert footage the guy in the pointy blue hat playing the two string fiddle appears to be the group's leader. Wade Hampton Miller PS: I still haven't figured out how to imbed videos in posts. How is it done? Last edited by Basalt Beach; 07-28-2018 at 06:27 PM. Reason: embed video |

Get the URL > Click on the YT button (second right, red button with white triangle found in advanced posting mode) > Paste in URL and remove everything up to the right hand slash. So on this video, between the YT wraps, it would be Qs_ZSdrKbu4. The url is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qs_ZSdrKbu4 Only enter or leave the bolded part between the YT wraps. Cool video.
Nice to see somehing very different. Just one question, what is the man holding at 3:49, binoculars, a musical instrument, a weapon? Attachment 11386 Last edited by Tico; 05-27-2019 at 01:54 PM. |

They’re a pair of shakers, Tico. There are a couple of quick shots of him using them elsewhere in the video.

Funny I was listening to a YouTube channel this morning of Marty Robbins Gunfighter Ballads.
Western music is somehow timeless, and obviously not limited geographically. Thanks for posting this.

You’re welcome. I went ahead and bought the album and have it on my phone now, and listened all the way through and then some this afternoon as I drove to and from Anchorage. It’s not going to be for everyone, but there’s some great musicianship on the album.
One thing that wasn’t so noticeable when watching the video but was unmistakable when listening to the music by itself is the remarkably lifelike horse neighing sounds they’re getting from those two string fiddle/cello instruments. Anyway, the album is $8.99 on iTunes and I feel like I’ve already gotten my money’s worth listening to it. There are two or three songs I don’t care for, but once I figure out which ones those are, I’ll make up a playlist with only the songs I really like. whm |

Thanks Wade that was really enjoyable .
They looked like they were having great fun. Kind of reminded me of some of the Beatles early videos.
