Default Pickup for vintage 00-17

Recently upgraded my old Martin 0-17 to a 00-17. In the past I've always just played my older guitars mic'd up without a pickup but it's starting to become a pain in the you know what in terms of lugging around extra gear, as well as limiting movement on stage. So I decided that the 00-17 is the guitar I want to install a pickup in, and am just looking for some guidance.

I'm looking for something that's somewhat unobtrusive and possibly thinking it might be best to find one that wouldn't need to be glued in like a soundhole pickup. The LR Baggs M1 is an option I've looked at that seems like it might be solid. I know a lot of people on here recommend the K&K Pure Mini but a lot of the videos/soundclips of the K&K that I've listened to, I haven't loved the way it sounds when being strummed (though I might've been unlucky and just heard a bunch of examples of people who didn't know how to EQ properly). I strum and fingerpick a pretty equal amount but the 00-17 has such a great woody sound, I just don't want to lose that with the pickup.

Anyway just looking for some suggestions here. And if anyone here is in the LA area, do you know of a shop in the city that has guitars with a bunch of different pickups installed to test them in person? Would love to do an in person test if possible.

Schatten HFN. You can install it easy yourself and I like it much better than k&k.

Doesn't really answer your question, but you might try to contact Colter Wall and ask what he uses as he plays the same guitar as you (although he tunes down a whole step)--I think he gets a good sound with it. These vids may give you a clue--looks like a soundhole mounted control panel, and an internal mic?

Good call, I like Colter's music and saw him playing his 00-17 a while back with what I'd thought was a K&K Trinity installed but definitely looks like something else in these videos. I'll have to do some research because he does get a very natural sound.
