Harmony acoustics
I posted about Harmony acoustics without a title. It may or may not show up so I will repost and hope for the best.
I am thinking about getting a H-165 for blues/America music. I have been seeing them for 50+ years without SEEING them. When did Harmony switch to pinless bridges and is that an improvement? Do all H-165's have mahogany tops. How easy are neck resets? As you can see, I need to be schooled on Harmony, please. Thanks, Tom. |

Yes, all H-165s have one-piece solid mahogany tops. Structurally sound and well set up, they are the biggest bang for the buck in the vintage acoustic world. Resets are a piece of cake - a standard hide-glued dovetail. HOWEVER, during the reset on a non-adjustable, the fretboard must be removed and the neck reinforcement re-glued in the slot. See: http://harmony.demont.net/guitars/H165/89.htm for a little more info.
