Looks like I'm moving away from Peavey. I really wanted it to work out... but it's just too noisy. Looking into the Fender Acoustasonic 40 now. It's the same price and looks to have similar features.

Gig Rig
It's pretty much spelled out in my signature below, but I'll add a little color!
2010 Taylor 314ce or 814ce Dunlop Gator Grip picks (either 1.50mm or 2.0mm) LR Baggs Venue TC Ditto X2 TC Helicon H1 Harmony Pedal I use a touch of reverb from the A&H mixer OnStage DT8500 stool DR Pro mic stand Hercules iPad mic stand mount iPad running OnSong Vocal - Shure Beta 58 A&H ZED 10FX Mackie SRM450 v2 (x2) mains JBL EON10 G2 (x2) monitors This system is for my group with three vocals, keys and my acoustic. Seriously thinking about getting a Turbosound IP2000 which would eliminate the Mackies and the JBLs for smaller shows when I play solo.

I thought I retired from playing out in 2003. I played a lot as a solo and duo gigs from the late 70s until '03. My last rig was a 1980 Ovation Legend limited (John Lennon), and a Beta 58 mic through a 1989 Yamaha EMX 2130 powered board, Alesis Quadraveb+ for guitar effects, into Klipsch Professional KP2002 speakers on Ultimate Support Stands. Earlier I used Klipsch Industrial Heresys, they are audiophile quality speakers.
In December acquired a Gibson Hummingbird Pro and a Fishman Loudbox mini and am considering playing out again. I've been checking out all the new lightweight stuff and am a little confused.. Recently, I had occasion to help a couple of girls who needed a sound system for a gig they booked. They are very good but know nothing about how to make themselves heard. We hauled out my antique system and it still sounds great! Then I sat in with a buddy who has a Bose L1 and it was nice, but my heavy old system has a lot more headroom and punch, while being at least as clear as his Bose. It seems that I would still need a mixer to go with one of the new line array systems, to remain as flexible as I would like to be. I still have a lot of old friends who gig and love to sit in. I think I may lug my old stuff around for a while if I start to play out again. |

Guild D-50 with multi-source pickup and Guild F-512 with the load and lock pickup. SM-58 mic through a Bose L1 for vocals.
Just bought a new (to me) D-55 without a pickup, so not sure what I'll put into it, maybe a Fishman soundhole p/u or another multi-source. Brad

As I lead music during worship it's a bit different
Gibson J45 or GS MiniE depending on the song ( worship ) AER Compact 60 Flashback Delay For larger duo gigs I stereo from the flashback into a Marshall AS50D and the AER . I do this in the church sometimes if needed . However I am considering miking the Martin through the churches inbuilt PA

I lead the choir at my Catholic Church ( I only mention that because from what I've seen about "Worship" music, we do a somewhat different style of music ) and this is my rig:
Gibson J-15 into Boss Zoom A3, Boss TU3, MXR chorus, HOF mini reverb, Radial ProDI to house. My Shure sm58 mic splits to house and Zoom A3. For a monitor, I send from the RadialDI to a small Ibanez acoustic amp for the choir. Best, PJ |

Amp - Fender Acoustasonic Jr. DSP
Split Channel 80w. 40w Guitar channel on left, 40w Vocal channel on right. Amp has an XLR Balanced OUT from back with an independent level control. Most Occasions I like to use the Cooltube-2 PU system on my Tak TF430SS. Use the Takamine DI box too, as that phantom powers the cooltube. Any guitar pickup/preamp system will work. The Acoustasonic has digital effects on each channel... Chorus/Rev Chorus/Delay combos, several diff REV and Delay types. Bring the AMP, MicStand, Guitar... Have the house connect the XLR out the back of Fender to go through their system. I tell em the house board should be flat, all effects and EQ off my guitar and amp. Never fails to sound really nice... Can dial en effects and levels for songs right there off the amp and it goes through everything... |

Keep it simple
Lately, my mission has been to find as simple a setup as possible. I play 3-hour gigs regularly. I did play through a Fishman SA220, but recently discovered the Alto Trouper, which is much cheaper, and I am using that now. I actually have two towers, but 95% of the time I only use one. But I can always pull out the second one for outdoor gigs. In any case, my setup is: JJB Prestige 330 pickup > Play Acoustic harmonizer (the bomb!) > chorus pedal > DBX goRack (mostly for anti-feedback when I'm stuck in a cramped space, but also has a mute, EQ, etc., if needed) > Alto Trouper powered speaker on stand. I play a Martin M36 and a Don Rust custom built mostly (both with a JJB), but sometimes a Gibson J45, which has an LR Baggs in it. I can do without the DBX and the chorus pedal. That leaves you with guitar to harmonizer to speaker. Very simple.

I like simple. Less to go wrong and ruin your night. I have a bunch of guitars but only ever play one live.
Gibson LG2. v K&K pure mini v Red Eye with boost > Sonic Research turbo tuner from the effects out (tends to pop if plugged in line, which is a shame because it is true bypass) v House mixer via XLR I keep a DiMarzio Angel magnetic pickup in my case in case of emergencies. I've tried a bunch of pre-amps. With other pickups, it doesn't matter as much, but the K&K really shines with the Red Eye. |

I have a Santa Cruz D guitar
Dimarzio Angel passive pickup Red eye preamp, to pa. clip on headstock tuner or no preamp and into my Quilter MP200-8 amp. I've used this for a few years now and am very happy! Maybe I would try the Dimarzio Angel active pickup and see if I could eliminate the external preamp.
