Just to be clear, my post was not meant to be in any way negative about CM strings. I think they are a fine company with quality products. I in fact am planning on trying their round core monels with my next string order. My post was meant to be about round core's in general.

You definitely need to tune them up before cutting. I made that mistake once and the guitar could not get into tune.
