My one X20-12 String that I bought used off of a shop on Reverb did have Fan Frets. My other plain Jane X20-12 Black Carbon Artisan did not. The Scale length went from 24.5 on the treble side to 25.5 on the bass side. It was not a big deal to just pick up & play it but I did not notice a big difference in tone really. I of course did not order this guitar that way but I felt if they were wanting a bigger sound out of the bottom strings it would have had to have a slightly longer scale length on the bass side. Maybe if they would have started with 25.5 on the treble side and went to 26.5 or something in that area the Bass notes would have been more robust?

Really I'm not sure what the person was going for when they ordered it this way. The intonation was actually not as good as my standard X20-12.

All in all it was a great guitar but I just never played it much so it went away.

Thanks for sharing... this is a great introduction to the X30 and the X30-12 is the best sounding 12 string that I have heard!! Also, the nylon string version sounded quite lush(gotta love that open head stock). Perhaps Evan's quest requires a larger CF body.

much appreciated!!!

Would a 12 string that stays in tune still have the soul of a 12 string? I'm afraid a CF 12 string player may suffer from a mild case of cognitive dissonance from lack of tuning practice.

Really. And instead of tuning all through the sets, the player would actually have to play.

I have an X20-12 and there are no ill effects from not having to constantly tune or retune.

I'm surprised the sound coming out of that big guitar did not blow your glasses off, sitting like that!

Hee hee. I’m up the neck and have finger picks on. I pick pretty quietly. I’m actually fighting with my guitar to get a blues riff hence the body facial tension.
